3 Dozen Roses

Early in the week I was assigned to take a portrait of Rose, who is retiring from the Baum School of Art in Allentown. In celebration of her retirement there will be an exhibition of some of the dresses she has made over the years. The show, 3 Dozen Roses, features 36 hand made dresses, each with their own story.

It's amazing the details Rose remembers about each dress, such as the actual sewing process and the occasion that she made it for. This dress in particular she remembers wearing to a function at the Museum and when a musician complimented the dress she eagerly showed off the colorful under-layers.

The two dresses directly behind Rose, the blue and green, and pink and purple, are even made with fabric that she hand dyed in the 70s!

It was great to do a portrait session on location, since it's been a while since I have done so. It was even better to hear all the wonderful stories and have the time to do several different angles.
