Bellefonte Cruise
As the Sandusky trial caused a lot of traffic issues on Allegheny Street in Bellefonte, it did not cause one of the favorite events of the year to be stopped. The media trucks cleared the street, a stage was built, and the sidewalks were lined with people of all ages for the annual Bellefonte Cruise.
After the cars cruised, and reved their engines the street was closed down as the sock hop took over with some of the best classic tunes.
The festivities continued on Saturday with the car show and more live music.
PIAA State Softball and Baseball
Two weeks ago all our local sports teams' seasons came to an end, as two softball teams and a baseball team lost in the PIAA state playoffs. But spring sport coverage wasn't quite finished for me yet. Since the PA State championship game are held here at Penn State I was sent to cover two of the games. Ended the spring sport season on a good note.
Sandusky Trial Continues
The trial for Jerry Sandusky continued through the week and I was back at the court house for my shift on Thursday, the fourth day of court. We started to pick up on patterns of what was going to happen at certain times and how some things were being handled.
As I hung around waiting a car pulled up and several familiar faces got out. I recognized the Centre County Commissioners who must have stopped by to see what all the hype was.
When the gray van pulled up to the door we knew a witness was going to be coming out. The witnesses have been kept very secretive and hide themselves from the media as they leave, and most of us prefer that, since we don't want to identify the young men.
The prosecution brought out their files as court was adjourned for the day, and would take Friday and the weekend off.
The jurors have been transported to and from the courthouse to also avoid the media.
I was surprised when out of the tunnel came one of Sandusky's attorneys, boxes of files in hand, a stogie and a grin.
Sandusky's main attorney, Amendola has been very chatty and full of smiles through the entire trial also, as you can see his reflection in the mirror joking with an officer.
Back to court on Monday as the proceedings will continue.

Through much of the week Sandusky has not looked upset, or as if the trial is taking a toll on him. Thursday he finally had a moment, that lasted about 3 seconds, where he placed his hand on his head and turned away from the cameras.

Sandusky Trial Begins
Today started the largest trial to ever happen in Centre County, the case against Jerry Sandusky. The national media has flooded the town and the trial could take up to three weeks. Last night I headed to Bellefonte to photograph the scene.
To protect the victims of the case and the witnesses involved this tunnel was built out of the back of the court house so photographers could not see them as they get into cars.
Then this afternoon I headed to the courthouse to relieve the photographers that had been there all morning. I sat along photographers from all over the state as we waited for court to be adjourned for the day. All you heard was storm of shutters clicking as Sandusky, his attorney, the prosecutors and the judge all left the courthouse.
